Texas Trivia

The Camino Real was the old stage road that ran from San Antonio to Laredo, running through the east side of what is now La Salle County. In 1852 a military post was established at this point by the U.S. Government, and known as Fort Ewell. A garrison was stationed there for the protection of the early settlers and the wagon trains. In 1854 it was abandoned as a military post, and now all that remains of the old fort are the foundations of some old homes and a little graveyard fenced in.
